So I got some TSC pekins at the end of march. One of the tasty drakes made it to my avatar. I now have some hens and 1 drake. He is breeding them. Every day I look for eggs, they are in a large pen. Am I wasting my hopes. Will they wait 'til about Feb., or am I going to get some eggs soon. I live in Va if that makes any difference. Experienced duck ranchers let me know.
Thanks.

Well, now for the update. They started laying about two days after this post. At about 22 weeks. And then when they hit about 28 weeks they quit. Then they molted. Now they have started laying again. Duck eggs are great, I have a child that will not eat chicken eggs but will bite you to get a duck egg! Don't know how long it will last, but I found it interesting that they started again. Usually chickens molt and that is it for eggs. When ducks molt, it is not as obvious looking at the bird, but you can sure look at the yard and tell!
