Hi, I'm very nervous about this whole computer thing and I hope I don't break any of the rules. I've had chickens for decades and we finally are incubating from a closed flock for the freezer, eggs and to perpetuate the flock. Unfortunately, my red Hamish rooster -beautiful ,under a year old and running around just the day before we discovered him dead -dropped dead from no apparent cause. Its been several weeks and everyone else seems fine. So now with spring coming on, I'm stuck. No rooster no hamshire chicks. I do have Jersey giants but want to keep up the hampshires too. So out of desperation I'm fighting my Luddite tendencies and joined all you guys.
I've been lurking too and you seem a very nice bunch. I'll look in swaps and sales for a rooster.

Glad you joined the flock. You could put the breed name in the search box and see what comes up. Hope you will be able to find a new rooster.
