I saw on the silkie thread yesterday someone was going to cull or give away 2 cross beak silkies it was in last last 2 or 3 most recent pages.

I have a cross beak easter egger chick about 4 weeks old. It has learned to eat and drink just like the other chicks so far. It is a nice chick that likes human attention and hops on my arm when given the chance. If you are willing to make arrangements to pick it up, you can have it for free. Try the Okies thread. Michael can find anything you desire-- he regularly takes birds to sell in OKC @ Mary's swap meet-- I am sure he would find you a chick!

My daughter too has taken to cross beaks-- she had one that would fly up onto your shoulder anytime you walked into the coop. Ever since she hatched that pullet she has begged for any cross beak chick she has found.

I have a severely cross-beaked EE hen who is going on 2 years old-- she too stole my heart when she was just a chick. When you get your new chick, try trimming her beak about once a week-- you may not be able to get a perfect beak, but she should be able to eat and drink on her own. If you trim her beak very often, you will have a better chance of keeping the quick under control. Good luck
