So who would have thought that a waterer designed for chicks could pose a threat to them!! I didn't and I just found out the hard way. Yesterday I had marbles in it thinking that it would keep them from getting their feet in it and for some reason today I didn't put them back in after changing the water. Well one of my little Mottled Houdans paid with their life. The 6 chicks I have in my "little guy" brooder to keep them safe from my really energetic other chicks must have piled up to sleep next to the waterer and the poor thing ended up face down in it. I'm so bummed and wanted to post to maybe save someone else from the same mistake. Put marbles or pebbles even in your chick waterer.
