Was told this is a purple peachick

    bought this bird last week and was told it is a purple peacock?? Definitely a male and would grow up to have purple feathers ... Is this possible?? And is it a male??

    There is a color called purple in peafowl, but they don't have what I would call purple feathers. They're still pretty, though.

    I'm looking at this bird on my phone, so I might be missing details, but I don't see any barring across its back or shoulders. That would make it a hen, not a cock.

    @casportpony what do you think?

    It does look a lot like my purple hen.

    Who was the breeder? Before you go and tell the breeder that people on BYC said it looks female, can you post more pictures?

    i did speak with breeder and did not tell her what people are saying... lol... she assured me it’s a black shoulder cross and is a male... says that purple will come out when it gets adult feathers .... thank you for all help... love this site...
