I was wondering if anybody can tell me what type of exotic check this is. It was included with my order from Murray McMurray hatchery.

The species is Gallus domesticus (chicken). [IMG]

Is it a full size chick? they only carry Brahma, Cochin, Faverolle, Marans, and Langshans for full size feather footed varieties. My guess is maybe a silver laced Cochin, but I'm not 100% sure.

I would say Silver Laced Cochin, too.

I think they only send full size birds as the freebie. So, probably a Cochin.

I think so, too, and they only list big breeds under their rare/exotic heading... though Marans are the only feather footed included there. [IMG]

But MMM only has clean legged cuckoo Marans, so they don't even count [IMG].

I'm still going Cochin. It's going to be a beauty when mature, they're so striking.

I know, right? And their EEs ("Ameraucana/Araucana") don't even have muffs [IMG] Our feed store gets their chicks from them and when my two EEs grew up with clean faces I was so disappointed. They do both lay blue, though (the person I sold them to sent pics).

Cochins are [IMG] though I do prefer bantams.
