Ok this may be a stupid question but here it is. I don't have any water on my property. Although I have water close to me. I am surrounded by fields and there are some ponds nearby. One of the fields across from my property will develop a small pond on the spring and it will dry up in the heat of the summer. Then on the other side of the field on the south of me has a real pond. It's a small reserve. Will this work for ducks or geese? I'm not going to get ducks or geese this year but I am thinking about planning ahead.

So it is somebody else's pond? I'd not be encouraging my birds to be on somebody else's property.

If you don't have a natural water source, they are happy with a kiddie pool.
