Took my 2 year old Maran to a new vet today... I suspected she had waterbelly. I had only ever read about it, so I wanted to be sure before I drained her myself.
They ended up taking 500cc from her belly.

I know this means she's in organ failure and we're on borrowed time.

But the vet said not to eat her eggs anymore because of her condition. I've read ALOT about waterbelly and I've never come across that the eggs aren't safe.

I'm curious if anyone else has heard that or has any thoughts? (Not trying to discredit the vet; I'm genuinely curious what other people have been told)

I've never heard this before either. Though I've only had water belly once in a hen, which was severe, & had to put her down.
