Can anybody give me some info on wattle genes? I am hoping to breed them out.
Hoping to breed wattles out of what?
I'm hoping to breed the wattle gene (if there is one) out my chickens. That is why I'm hoping to get info on wattle genes.
Ever thought about learning how to dub your birds, it's fairly simple. What type of breed are you starting with?
Araucanas don't have wattles.
I agree enola, are you going for eggs or meat ? Most likely there already is a type out there for you
I couldn't dub.
I am starting a line breeding project wih brabanters. My gold hens have wattles. I can't seem to find what the genes are that govern the lack of the presence of wattles. I know its connected to the beard gene but that's all the info I have.
I have cream wattle-less brabanters I was hoping to get the gene in that way.
You could pm niclandia. He is our genetics guru.
Thanks for the tip. I'll do that.
