Our birds were refusing to use the roost that DH built for them

...so each night I would go in and sit with them at bedtime and lift the 25 sleeping girls off the floor and set them each on the new roost we put in for them..after 3 or 4 nights of this....I tiptoed in to see how they were doing and WALAH !! We now have roosting chickens!!! Who knew this advice would really work??? You chicken experts really know your stuff!! Thanks!!

mine are still sleeping on the floor, i thought they would learn to roost on their own, since I am already in my pjs, i'll try tomorrow night.

I think they'll learn on their own. Mine roosted on their own (though not on their roosting bar) and 3 nights ago I moved the newbies from the chair they were hanging out on in their coop to their boxes and since they've flown up there by themselves

You say 25 girls, but nothing about the roo? In the second pic. The first Barred Rock from the right is a young Rooster.

Edited to add that in the first pic, one of the EEs with it's head stuck straight out looks like a roo too.
