They’re beautiful! Are you sure about the ages? That would mean 6 1/2 weeks old.

It doesn’t really matter, other than when you start itching for eggs.😁 And even then, they follow their own timetable.

Mine at that age:

This is how our last batch looked at this age, are we doing something wrong with our chicks? The other ones are 7 months old now is this how they are supposed to look now im worried

I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong but I think the seller may have been trying to sell them for more money by exaggerating their ages. I have 4 week old chicks that are completely feathered out. Yours look to be two weeks old at most

Edit to add: at six weeks old, yours should be feathered out enough to be off heat. That is clearly not the case.

My guess is that NFC (reply above) is correct about their age. She knows chickens!

And I hadn’t thought about them still needing heat, probably because I always started with 6- or 7-week old pullets and just have no experience with these cute fluffballs. But it’s true that they need serious feathers for spring nights.

But other than some extra babying over the next four weeks, they seem like a perfect age for you. They’re much more likely to see you as a friend, because you’ve gotten them at this age.

Mine still look at me as if I have a chainsaw hidden behind my back. I didn’t have them as itty-bitties.
