This is my first post, my wife and I are new to raising chicks, and one of our 8 week old chicks named Fluffernutter is sick, it's puffed up not moving around and not eating much. We feed them Purina Medicated Start & Grow and she also feeds them lettuce and tomatoes as treats, they have been in the run now for about a week. Any ideas? Awesome site have learned a lot so far. Thank You

    Hi :welcome

Sorry to hear you have a sick chick. What's her poop like? How does her crop feel? Have you checked her for lice/mites? How often and much do they get treats?

Her poo is runny and light colored, looks to be a few spots of red, wife said her crop is mushy, will check for lice and mites, she gives them treats early every morning and early afternoon, all they want to eat of the treats, also blades of grass, now and then, I learned thats not good for them, I let them out in the run this morning and she began picking at the ground, and seemed a bit more active. Thank You for your help, we appreciated it.
