Our 21 birds are at 20 and 21 weeks.

We got our first egg 2.5 weeks ago it was the Marans.

Hit or miss getting eggs here and there, 2 one day 3 another 4 today Coming faster now.

We are so happy with our first year of learning so many new things, health being the key and happy birds too.

:thumbsup Thanks to all here who chime in with their experiences it has made all the difference.

I realize and accept many people off BYC may not care for their flock like we do but I feel strongly to give them the best life they can have in return for their gifts. It has been very good for us to have this project this year. Good to get out and work every day doing this or that filling food and water, checking legs and bodies. Good for my daughter too to learn this as a part of more natural life to have something depend on you. Good for my teen boys to learn about construction and build a run, the chaos of large rolls of hardware cloth, tractors and yep still building the coop now. No quitting it has to get done so that's been great too.

Anyway 2 or 3 more colors and shades yet to come they are not all laying!

We need to get a camera up to see who is doing what!!

Enjoy our pics!

I love your comment on how good it was to get out and work on this, tending to them during the day and perservering through the tough parts (that dang hardware cloth)...and being excited about aomething as simple as a few eggs.

Like you, I am amazed at the joy I found tending to my new flock.
