I have decided to go hunting just to see what the hype is all about.... I like guns, camping nature, 4 wheelers so why not? Are there any other tom boys out there?

I think most girls are once they go do some of these things... Dont know about hunting but I have never had someone go with me when I took the truck up Aetna Mountain that did not love it an want to go back.

I have also learned that taking a girl to shoot will cost you all your .22 ammo an probably all the rest too.

Hi, I grew up hunting and fishing. Dad was a comericial fishermen. So I grew up on the water and I can clean a fish,or any game or livestock. So go for it its great. I have the horses and I horsecamp, work cows do whatever needs to be done and I love it. DHs ideal of horsepower is you stick a key in it and crank it. LOL...

I say go give it a try or two. Bow hunting is very back to nature, quiet and no manmade smells around. I think you will love it. I would rather be in the barn or the woods anyday.

BTW, I was the one with the gunsafe full of arms. And the reloading equipment.

I've been going to deer camp for the past 13 years. I usually sleep (best sleep in the world is at deer camp ) but this year, I'll be loading up too.

None of us have ever been to a deer camp, when we need venison we just take a walk out in the woods behind our house, but all my girls can hunt except the 3 year old. I made sure they all could. 12, 21 and 23 years old. All are fair shots and love the outdoors. Only the oldest has killed a deer, but the youngest was trying hard to get one this past year. The middle girl moved to the big city, so not much huntin' going on there.

But I'm always happy to hear of a "tomboy" as you called it. Good for you! And I hope you'll get a nice one.

I don't call myself a tomboy..... I call myself "Self Sufficient" and I can repair my own truck and trailer. My Daddy taught me if you are going to drive it you are going to know how to fix it. Before I could get my learners driver permit, I had to be able to change a tire, the oil, belts and know how to jump start a car. Yes, my parents were hard on me, but I had to do the same as my older brothers. I know its made me a better person.
Now I am teaching others how to clean game and small livestock. I have a neighbor who gardens and cans. She has had chickens for years. Taught her how to process and can this year. She was so thrilled to learn. We barter between us. This fall we are processing a steer just the two of us( my dad is supervising). The men think we are crazy. Have built a small walk in cooler on the back porch for hanging the beef to cure. It's 6X8 so it will get the job done. Already have all the equipment needed saws, knives ands most important the tractor for hanging to clean.

HH. DON'T label it. Just know is "guy girls" (girls that guys like to hang out with) are, indeed, a rarity. My husband IS my best friend. I don't mind getting muddy, dirty, greasy or soaked. I drive my own motorcycle, fish, and would MUCH much rather be outside working than mopping a floor..

I'm a tom-boy. I love being in nature. I enjoy guns and target shooting, but definitely NOT hunting. I love fishing but I catch and release. I much rather go look at amazing rock formations than to a Broadway musical or a fancy restaurant. I do not even own a dress!
