Oh. I take a blanket and wrap my crossbeak up tight in it. Then I gently hold her head (careful not to have your finger on her throat) while I file. My crossbeak does rather well with it.
(True, I've been filing her beak since she was few months old and do it about every two weeks, so she might just be really used to me doing it.)

Yes, but I recommend finger nail clippers, not dog nail clippers for the beak. You just got to be careful not to hit the quick.
