new chicks, only two made it. Seramas. One is heavier than the other, and very weak legs. It works hard at it, but scoots on it's belly. I'm planning to try some PT for it.

I'll make a sling out of torn sheet, and loop it over a dowl. Thinking this way it can be suspended high enough to get it's feet under itself.

I don't think I can leave it in the sling, but perhaps even the time I am able to give it will help. I want to get to it right away while it is young.

Any ideas. I'm starting it's pt as soon as I post this.

hi seramas are so small and delicate. I raise them my selves and know the difficulties. if they cant stand they are probably really week already. Once seramas are going down hill it is very hard to get them better. I pulverize my food so they can get it down. Make sure they are warm enough if it is cooler where you are. other than that they need to eat to get stronger and better. good luck

the serama Chick seems stronger now, active, but it's leggs don't' hold it up. I'm beginning to think it is splayed. It sure fights to move though. When I turned the vacumn on a bit ago it paddled furiously to get somewhere, but it was going against the side of the brooder, which is clear plastic so it didn't make any headway. I'm going to search now for "Splayed chick". Thankx

For strengthening those legs: a couple of drops of cod liver oil (PLAIN, UNFLAVORED) - put on tip of beak with eye dropper & let the chick swallow-- about twice a day for 3-4 days

hmmmm cod liver oil, I'll have to get some. I also like the idea about putting the chick in the cup at nite so it has it's feet under it.
I tried wrapping it with some torn sheet to pull it's hips together and stand it up, worked for a moment, but then it started to slip off chik....
    Stilll brainstorming
What are the vitamins we are supposed to give to the chicks. I need to have my hubbie go get some. Or maybe he has some and I didn't know it.
Chick is now 28 hrs old now
