I have 13 Black sexlinks that were a week old yesterday. This is the first time I've had chickens. Some of the chicks have spots where it look like there feathers are coming out, no skin showing but feathers are kinda puffed above other feathers. Does this mean anything? Is there harmful pecking going on? Am I being overly careful with these chicks lol?

Sounds like the down is falling out and being replaced with feathers...They get pretty scraggly looking as the feathers come in....I dont think you have a problem ....;)

    Cheers!

Hmmmm?....How big is your brooder?.....I think its time to expand their living space....They seem to be picking the down off each other......Darn.....:(........

    Best of luck!

Expand it and put some logs and stuff to climb on...With nothing fun to do they bore real fast..Like all babies they need stimulation.....Dust bath area....

    Cheers!
