14 days today & I've noticed that some of my eggs have big, lobed air cells where it looks like the membrane has separated from the shell beyond where the nice round air cell is. I wish I could post a pic but I haven't figured out how to get a nice picture while candling - - maybe need to turn off the flash? It seems to be just in the buff orpingtons that were borderline old when I set them out. I broke out a quitter today & from the inside I could see that the membrane had separated from the shell extending from the air cell.

Just wondered if anyone has noticed this phenomenon. I'm not sure I'm seeing good embryos in these eggs.

It does not sound promising. I'm sorry [IMG] [IMG] hope it works out.

I am having the same issue. Some of mine are really big air sacs that seem lopsided or even a few which are actually on the side.

I just candled a few more of those eggs with the big air sacs & one of them I definitely saw movement... hmm -- interesting that they're all the same breed (BO) - wonder if it's something to do we that?

Hi Tuffold -- thanks for the encouragement.

My eggs were shipped, were in transit 7 days in fact! I'll hope for the best -- it's nice to hear it worked out for yours!

    Keep the faith!!

We have successfully hatched several batches of chicks with air cells that would make you think there would be no possible way they could hatch.
