Weird egg thingy

OK so when I went out this morning to let the girls out and check for eggs there was a soft shell egg on the board below the roost. It was frozen which leads me to believe it happened early in the night. Now the weird part was that it had a small tube like thingy that stuck out of one end. It was about 3 to 4 inches long.

Am I right to just assume that it is just a new layer fluke??

yeah, I think so. I have seen pictures of a lot of those. They are nasty looking.

One of my girls layed one of those early on when she first started laying. It kinda looked like a deflated balloon. Not to worry they will get better with time. They are gross!

I thought it was pretty neat looking but I was initially worried. I actually have it in my freezer so I can show people.

I am sooo weird.
