Earlier today when I was holding my duckling, I noticed a little black spot on my ducklings back near the tail. It looks like a mole since it is raised, but It also looks like fuzz, like the duckling's fur is growing from it. I'm not too worried about it but does anybody know what this is?

Sounds like the preen gland. Nothing to worry about. :)

I should probably know what this is but what is the preen gland?

It's a gland above their tail that secretes the oil that keeps their feathers water-proof. They rub their face on the preen gland to collect the oil, then rub the oil all over their feathers. :)
