Welcome to Kayla’s Flock!

I never ended up giving Charlie back. But I’ve been working with him, and he’s improved a LOT. I’m super proud of him.

I now have another flock of BB red OEGBs… They were surrendered by a friend, to me. There are 7 hens, 1 rooster, and a cockerel. They are currently in a tiny prefabricated coop, and I hate it because it’s way too small for them. I’m fixing up a 10x10 kennel coop for them hopefully soon. I have the kennel, I just need to put hardware cloth around it to keep things out. I moved the cockerel in with my younger group of bantams since the rooster (Monroe) was attacking him.

Now that Charlie has been trained to pretty much stay only in my yard and around the house, I have made him a dog tag so that if, for whatever reason, he runs off— There are 2 numbers that people can reach me by. I really want to get him microchipped, but this will do for now.

My uncle (Steve) used to have hunting dogs before his stroke, so he had all of the e collar necessities so that I could train Charlie to 1) stop chasing cars and 2) stay in my yard (if he leaves my yard, my neighbor or his dogs will more than likely kill him). And I will now SWEAR by e collars. They work and aren’t as cruel as they can be made out to be. In 3 short days of training, and only having to be shocked less than 5 times total in those three days, Charlie went from a crazy dog that wouldn’t stop running off to a decently well mannered pup that stays in my yard… AND NO LONGER CHASED CARS… AAAAAHHHH :celebrate I’ve attached pictures of him wearing the e collar and a picture of the supplies. Today he was out all day and I didn’t make him wear the collar. He still stayed at home. So I’m pretty sure I can return the collars and equipment back to my uncle. I’m so so so proud of my baby :love

Soooo, HatchABatch was deleted from the IOS App Store recently… it won’t even let me open the app (obviously). So, all of my previous hatches and other information are forever gone 💔 I found another app to use but I think I’m going to start using a pencil and paper from now on. I’m kinda sad that all of my hatch dates for certain babies Etc are just gone :(
