Haha thanks guys. It was pretty exciting, since I was a new hunter.

Never made it out turkey hunting last year and not sure if I will again, after hatching and raising one. But I do hope to get some deer time in this fall.

My dad is telling me about a great-grand something who joined the Virginia Militia as a Fife player, decided he didn't like it, left and hid out in Kentucky for a few years. He was caught, imprisioned for desertion, was let out and put back in the army where he was promptly captured and held by the Union army as a prisoner of war.

So there's my Civil War story, on the Southern side.

Wow! They took their fife playing seriously!

Did the shipping container arrive and get unloaded without incident?

I'm pretty sure my ancestors fought against each other in the Civil War. I'm from a small NC town at the foot of the Blue Ridge. I know my maternal great, great. grandfather fought for the Union and I think my paternal side fought for the Confederacy.

Yup, luckily it came early and is now empty and waiting to be picked up. Can barely walk in my warehouse, but it's unloaded.

I don't know about my Mom's side and if anyone was in the war (Although someone probably was). I do know they were Quakers and fled England in the early 1700s and were here before the revolutionary war. They settled in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

My dad is really into genealogy and is trying to get me into it. DH is more the history buff, so he might start doing some research. It will give them something to do this winter.
