Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

Well Ponders, I have a tale of horror for you.

I had decided to take a nice bath to destress after my day and get ready for bed. Let me set the scene. I am relaxing, the water is the perfect temperature, and the music of 2Cellos is playing softly. I am reading on my Kindle app on my phone.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see something brown suddenly fall from above, and I hear it hit the edge of the tub. Hmm, I think, best investigate that. I look from my phone to the edge of the tub, see nothing, and track my gaze over to my body, where A LARGE BROWN SPIDER is now perched.

My brain goes into panic mode immediately, because I am afraid of spiders. My brain orders my body to remove the spider immediately but also don't touch it. So of course the best course of action is to use MY PHONE to shoo it off my stomach. Except now it is floating in the water with me. Quick, use the phone to fling it out!

It was at this point that my wits partially returned and I realized I was plunging a VERY expensive water sensitive piece of equipment that is pretty integral to my life into the water. I get ahold of myself and use my free hand to swish water, and the spider, out of the tub.

The floor is soaked. There is a large spider somewhere in my bathroom. My phone has been partially submerged into the tub. The notes of My Heart Will Go On play softly in the background as I contemplate what just happened.

Needless to say the bath was over. The spider is still somewhere in my bathroom. I have used towels to soak up the water. My phone helpfully informed me that water was detected in the charging port, and I should make sure it's fully dry before charging it. I used canned air to blow water out of the port, hopefully that does it, I won't plug it in until it dies to be sure.

So much for relaxing before bed.
Spiders don’t scare me, but change that to a mouse, and I’d say hell with the phone!

And I’m sorry to laugh, but your description was so perfect, I couldn’t help it.
Glad you didn’t slip and fall or anything worse. :hugs

Love it! Your life sounds just wonderful! Its great how you described it too! I'm with you, I just love chickens, etc. I'd have more, but I can't where I live. Although, I do have quite the menagerie, If I say so myself!

Agreed. Wholeheartedly!

I like to start my day with a good cup of coffee and usually go to bed after my favorite adult beverage.

In between waking and sleeping, I enjoy chatting with friends about chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, goats, and all our fine feathered friends. And even our 4 legged furry friends!

So I thought I would start my own thread where friends can get together, share stories and pictures (I love pics!) about pretty much anything going on in our lives. Even "real work", if we must. My only preference is to avoid politics and religion. Those usually just start arguments and/or hard feelings and this should be an enjoyable retreat!

So.... a few things that I like: Hatching!! Basically anything that can come out of an egg. I'm an admitted hatch-aholic, with no desire to change at this point. So far, I have hatched ducks, turkey, bantam chickens, large fowl chickens, and quail. I also enjoy learning about taking care of these animals and all that goes with that! I like selling eggs and chicks, and hope to someday make more of a business of this thing that I have fallen in love with over the past year or so.

But besides chickens (et. al.), which takes up a lot of my time now, I also enjoy sewing, quilting, woodworking, building stuff, cars, guns, hunting, fishing, photography, cooking, gardening, movies, television, windows, sludge, gutters, frogs, monkeys, and squirrels! just to name a few things. (Oh look... squirrel!)...

Oh, where was I? I got lost, but that's nothing new to those who know me.

Anyway, feel free to paddle on out to the middle where the bar is, or hang out on the bank and watch. Just please don't try walking on the water. It may look solid, but its probably not.

Heey, you mentioned a business someday. Well, for now do/will you sell chicks? If so, whatcha got?

Noooooo! I’m a tough guy! Tough guys don’t cry. Especially not in public. 😭

I would have died. They would’ve found me dead & naked & then I’d have died all over again.

It must’ve been a big one. What are you thinking? Wolf? Those are the worst!!!

If my sump pump spider from last year ever appeared in the shower -------------- Lord only knows. I remember her being as big as a dinner plate. Wish I had a picture.
Shudder

Spiders are great... when I am fully dressed and awake.....
