Welcome to my pond - Swim, wade, or sit on the bank

@bobbi-j so scary about the baby. Was she earlier than they thought? It that why she is having issues?

Just scary. I hope your daughter in law is getting the support that she needs, both emotional and physical! She will probably need a hospital grade breast pump to get her milk to come in.

Baby was induced a week before her due date because of some concerns during pregnancy. The respiratory issue they think is because she came so fast that DIL only had to push twice, so she didn’t get the fluid pushed out of her lungs. I’ve been told that c-section babies can have this happen as well. Not sure about the blood sugar problem, but that apparently has corrected itself. Good news today is, she is eating well enough that she is no longer on a feeding schedule. She can eat whenever she wants and they aren’t constantly weighing her before and after feedings.

The hospital has provided a breast pump for her. It looks pretty high grade. Other than being home Tuesday and Thursday nights, Son has been with her.

Today I drove the boys to the hospital to finally meet their sister. DH and my mom also came so Mom could meet her. (DH has a cold, so he had to wait in the lobby). The boys got to be there (only 4 people allowed in the room including parents) for about 15 minutes, then Mom and I each got to hold her for about 5 minutes before we all had to leave to beat the weather home. DS took the boys and headed 2 hours south, and I went home with DH and Mom and headed 2 1/2 hours north. We drove out of the winter storm, Son and the boys drove into it, but fortunately it was just starting so only had about 10 minutes of bad weather driving. Son plans to stay home until Tuesday, then I will be back on duty if needed.

It sounds like things are going as well as they can!

What an emotional mess! So much panic when even the smallest thing is wrong with a new born!

:hugs I am glad that things are improving!
