Or you can say aloha, but I prefer welina mai :) new to the chicken world (tamed ones anyway, we have so many wild ones it's not even funny...) and have been lurking on this site for a while. Husband finally built my dream coop so I'm slowly building our moa (chicken) 'ohana. So excited!!!

Mahalo for joining Backyard Chickens . My brother has vacationed in Hawaii many times and showed me pictures of the wild chickens . He has visited several islands .

What breeds of chicken do you have? I would think your climate is just perfect for them.Chickens in paradise. Welcome to the BYC flock. Would love to see pictures of your birds and of the coop when it is completed. Nice to meet you. Aloha

Here's my coop. I don't have any good ones of the girls-it's their first week in their new home. I've got americaunas, a golden laced wyandotte, silver laced wyandotte, barred rocks and am trying desperately to get my hands on a silver laced polish.

We live mauka, at about 1400 ft. It gets up to 85 in the summer and down to 55 in the winter. Over all our average is 77/66 :) the girls will free range once they are older and will have plenty of room to roam.

Mahalo for the aloha, so excited I have a resource here to learn from!
