I just joined today after lurking for ages. I live in DC now but I may be moving to Albuquerque which is chicken-friendly, yay! I am most interested in raising a heritage breed for eggs and meat (and conservation.) I ended up joining because of Yellow House Farm's thread on exactly this subject. I have been a chef on and off for almost 30 years and have come to appreciate food that is produced with respect: for the land, for the animals, and for the consumers I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully getting a flock of my own soon.
