The Bourbon hen ended up hatching 4 but the Black Spanish hen flopped at her hatch. These hens are raising these young ones together. On the roost each hen has a poult under each wing. The Black Spanish hen is all over any of the other turkeys who dare to approach. I still can't tell the hens from the toms yet but my son said he saw one of the young ones trying to strut a few days ago so I am assuming we have at least one baby gobbler..

They hatched around the 1st of August and here is a pic of them a few days ago out of the pen for the first time. It was hilarious to listen to them putting and purring at leaves, water hoses, paper, etc.

I should have Black Spanish, Bourbon Red and Royal Palm purebreeds this spring. I am going to make sure to get them seperated early this year.
