    guess it was too big, or could it be sick and they won't eat a sick one? I found it walking about above ground.

    It's a "vole". My cat that passed away last fall would catch them all the time.

    It was the only thing he liked to catch, I guess he felt it was "sporting". And it was a complete meal not an appetizer.
