They seem to look similar. Most hatcheries sell Welsh except Ideal, which sells Snowy. Which one is better? Should I get both? I could split my duck order between the hatcheries if I wanted to get both.

Are you wanting them for pets, eggs, or meat? I think Snowy Mallards are gorgeous but the flying aspect is a turn off for many people.

Just pets. I like adding many varieties of ducks into my flock.

p.s. Kevin565: Thanks for that crested article that you wrote a while back. I read it just before I almost purchased a couple of them. I now have some great, healthy Blue Runners instead.

In that case I would probably just order both if you don't have a problem with overly aggressive drakes when it comes to breeding.

I'm glad it helped you out. That was my intent when I wrote the article but it seemed to be derailed to other directions. Runners are a great choice! One of my first ducks was actually a Black Runner duck.

I LOVE my Welsh Harlequins! They are so fun. Calm, great foragers, great egg layers too! Our daughters love them!
