Welsummer laying WHITE egg?

Scary that it's happened before to others. I thought it could be an honest mistake where one got in accidentally at the hatchery or maybe the seller had bought both breeds and got one mixed in by accident. I'm not so sure now.

I plan on getting the surprise special from Ideal. Maybe I'll get another or two! I wouldn't mind.

Look like we may have the same situation here. I bought five Welsummer chicks from the feedstore in the spring. Today we had our first egg!...but it's off-white.

At first we were sure we had the brown leghorns, but now we are thinking that the lighter egg could belong to one of our Wyandottes. They lay light brown eggs, but we have had a few soft-shelled eggs that were nearly white.

Just a quick followup: no more white eggs and no eggs from the new chickens at all yet. It must have just been a very light Wyandotte egg. We have had a Wyandotte laying soft-shelled eggs as well--one every few months--so perhaps in our case it is related to that.
