    My broody hatched out 8 Welsummer eggs 4 weeks ago. Not sure if it too early to tell their gender. I took picture of the 4 that I most suspect are roos.

    Are there any tricks to sexing Welsummers?

    3 and 4 look like pullets, but I'm new this year.

    No expert here but chick one and two have some seriously red combs but some hens get that too sometimes. Hopefully some one will pip in with some more insight. I have been having issues with sexing too and I have heard " you dont know till it crows" a lot [IMG]

    I read somewhere that with Welsummers you have some idea with chest color, but I'm not totally sure about that.

    1 = cockerel
    2 = cockerel
    3 = pullet? I'm leaning that way
    4 = ditto

    That would be okay if I only had two cockerals out of eight. Guess I'll have to wait and see a little longer. [IMG]

    1 & 2 roos; 3 & 4 (can't really see 4 clearly so guessing here) pullets.
