***Update: This morning it looks a lot better. The very tip seems slightly purple still but it mostly looks back to normal. I dunno.

I just noticed that my roosters comb has turned a bit purple. It is never happened before and he seems totally fine otherwise. I’m not sure how to proceed, because I’ve read that that can be heart or lung disease. I’ve also read it could be nothing. Any advice? Is it an urgent find a vet situation? Or wait and see what happens?

*More info: He’s around 3 months old. One of 7 in the flock. No one else seems to have an issue. We’re in central California and it’s between 88 and 108 degrees right now so frostbite seems unlikely. Not sure if there’s any other info I can give but please let me know!

Could be sunburned his skin could be more sensitive than the others

My first thought would be the heat. Does he have plenty of shade or a way to cool off in 108 degree heat?
Yes! They have their coop which is well ventilated and if it gets really hot they go under our house where it’s much cooler. They don’t pant or show any signs of heat when they’re under there.
And they have nice cool water and frozen snacks and stuff.

And the last couple days it’s been unseasonably cool. It’s typically 100 right now but it’s been in the 80’s. This showed up after a couple days of relatively colder than he’s been in.
