    Hello,
I've just joined up and can't believe there is a forum dedicated to keeping chickens. What a great find.

My name is Deb and we have been keeping chickens for nearly 18 years now. I live in Queensland, Australia. We have 18 girls, 6 of which have been rescued from a battery hen farm. They have assimilated really well and have resumed their normal chicken behaviour. They were in terrible shape when we got them, pale sickly combs, long nails, featherless on necks, back and tail and couldn't walk, and were very timid. Now their combs are red, nails have been worn down through scratching and their feathers are growing back.

The girls have been off lay during winter, but we were getting at least 8 eggs each day.

Love my girls to death and it is a real pleasure keeping them.

Looking forward to finding out everything I can and chatting with lots of you folk

    Deb
