Got a bunch of "pullets" from the farm store and split them with a friend. They are 4 months old now. He says one of his is trying to get on top of the others all the time. No crowing yet. Could this be a roo? When will they start to crow? Thank you!

    They all mature differently.

I have silkie chicks in a hutch and heard a crow this AM. Of course, when I went over there and asked which one it was they all peeped like babies.
    They are 11 weeks old.

I had one that began at 5 weeks. It was more of a "Cocka-Dooo!" at first, before he figured out the last two syllables. [IMG]

I had a silkie crow at 10 weeks, now just waiting for the others to do something so I know if they are girls or boys?

Thank you for all that insight. These are buff orpingtons and wyandottes.

My SLW crowed for the first time at 14 weeks. He's 15 weeks now and has only tried it twice so far.
