He was a surprise for sure! Out neighbors gifted us what we thought were 4 pullets... and they chicken sat for us a couple of weeks ago and they highly suggested we had a rooster.. now I am definitely starting to notice it but wasn't 100% since he hasn't started crowing.Definitely a roo.

Also.. I am assuming I have 3 hens but I think only 1 is laying.. what could that be about?

I have a hen that took 8 MONTHS to begin laying, when they can start as soon as 3 months.
The white one is the only male in those pictures.

As for laying, when the days are shorter, hens lay less. They pick up again in Spring. The red female looks a little too young to lay, but the others are probably just taking a break.
