Our favorite bird, Crooked Toe, was not put up last night. He lives in a good sized fenced-in back yard and has a coop he can get into. He is the only loose chicken at the moment since his girls are not yet big enough to be left alone with him.
I went out this morning to make the rounds and I noticed that crooked toe had a good sized area under his right wing that had been all cut up. It was covered in his blood and it looked like maybe some tiny feathers had been pulled out of the left side of his neck (just a few hackle feathers). He is acting just fine and I expect him to recover quickly since he's a pretty tough guy. I checked EVERYWHERE and there is no blood, and I can safely say he did NOT injure himself. The only "clues" I found was a lone flight feather pulled out, and a bar knocked loose from his coop entrance.
A few nights ago he was doing these alarm clucking noises and I went out there to check on him and saw nothing but decided to lock him up. This morning, after finding him with blood, my ducks refused to leave their pen and go free range (they usually cry until I let them loose) What animal could do this?

I'd say owl, racoon or stray cat, but I think the cat is most likely, although a racoon is a possibility.

Also, our list of known redators in the area are: foxes, skunks, possums, raccoons, weasels, hawks, owls, coyotes, dogs, snakes, and feral cats. I don't think it was a coyote since they'd have a hard time with the fence. There is, however, a fox den right down our road which had a mother and her litter living there recently.

I think I have to agree with the cat idea, that's makes too much sense given that the cat is hungry since he is never fed by anyone(but my family some nights when he's around) and that he'd been hanging out around our house for the past 3 nights. His owner doesn't want to feed him because he feels that will ruin his mouse hunting ability but all that did was make him so hungry he went after a rooster twice his size. Such a sweet cat, too.

Yeah I'm guessing the cat. I'd build the roo a small temporary pen.
