What are sex-links? I heard tha they use different breeds to make one. I got one red sex-link in my RIR batch, what breeds do they usually for those?

A sex link is a bird that when they produce offspring, you can tell automatically at hatch time who is the male and who is the female by their colors.

A hybrid chicken that enables you to tell what the sex of the chick is as soon as it is hatched! Very cool! They are supposed to be great egg layers and hardy birds. I hope this holds true as I have just bought 16 golden comets! Here's a link to Cackle Hatchery's website. Scroll down the page until you see the list of chickens. Starting with the Cinnamon Queen down to the DelewareXHampshire, they are sex link chickens.

  7. I bought 5, I heard they are hardy and great egg producers as well.

2 of ours have brown on their face. Does this make them a different breed of sex-link?
