What are the Mt.vernon Illinois City Ordinaces For Backyard Chickens?

    I Was Wondering What The City Ordinances For Backyard Chickens Are In Mt.Vernon Illinois Because I Am Planning To Raise Some Chickens.

    I'm more used to Chicagoland ordinances (Mt. Vernon is St. Louis area), but the only relevant thing in the code I could find is:

    SECTION 13.5
    No person shall have or keep any cattle, hogs, sheep or goats or other animals within the City in such manner as to create any offensive smell or noise or to create any condition dangerous to the health of the public.

    So, you can probably keep them or pretty much anything. I'd check with the city.
