I went back and had a close look at your pictures. Are those recent pics?

If they are neither of them are near point of lay. The combs are still baby combs with no red to speak of.

Do you have a picture of Charlie? Are there any other birds in the flock?

I have 4 black copper marans, 1 white silkie and the 2 Brahmas. And Charlie lol
I don’t think sissy (silkie) could have laid that egg it was 3 times the size of hers but the same color.

Charlie is indeed a charlie..... We see lots of mis-sexed this time of year so I had to clear him of any possibility.

Your marans? They are laying yes? Maybe a paint department misfired and failed to add enough dark pigment.

The thing is a pullet egg from a Brahma is still a pullet egg so would be expected to be on the small side.

Yes, all 4 are laying and I was just thinking maybe a pigment issue and possibly a double yolk? Maybe that’s why it was larger.

Yes, your pullets are beautiful My Brahma lays medium sized eggs (sometimes on the smaller side). Yes, mine are a beautiful light brown
