What breed and gender are these?

These are about 9 weeks old the black one has some bright red/brown colouring in its wings. Any ideas of breed and gender?

They look much older than 9 weeks. The lighter one is definitely a pullet. I believe the darker one is a pullet as well. They are both mixed breeds.

The lighter one is an Easter Egger pullet. The other appears to be an Aracauna cockerel. Where did you get them? Very pretty birds.

They came home as part of a hatching program at school, but not from a company, they just sourced fertilised eggs! Fingers crossed for two pullets! We can’t keep roosters where we live.

I think there may still be a chance of the darker one being a pullet. Hope you end up with two lovely ladies!

Welcome to BYC. Both are cross bred birds. The buff is a pullet, and if they are indeed only 9 weeks old, the other is most likely a cockerel. Have a plan B in mind just in case.

Blue is a cockerel, buff is most likely a pullet.
They are both mixes of mixes. I'm guessing the blue one has some silkie in him and the buff one has speckled sussex and easter egger.
