    They appear to be mixed breeds, possibly Black Sex-links.

    Black Sex Links are a cross themselves. They are a cross between a solid colored rooster and a barred hen.

    They could be. If you took a hatchery black sex link and put her under a buff rooster, you'd get something like your birds. Where did they come from, a hatchery or a breeder?
