[IMG]Received these babies as a gift over the weekend. Came from animal auction and was only told they were all hens and egg layers. No idea of age or breed. My research tells me the lighter speckled one may be a rooster by the stubby tale feathers.?? I am new to mothering chickens. I have 1 Buff and 2 RIR'S 7 months old I have had for a month and they are dolls!! Any help on age, breed, and sexing would appreciated! Thanks! Cindy
PS How do I add a picture?

When your reply to your post........up above you will see an icon that looks like a picture with mountains. This will allow you to upload a picture. I tried to do a screen shot, but it wouldn't let me.

I agree about the breeding. Those speckles on the white chicks' backs definitely indicated mixed breed--probably with white Leghorn in the mix somewhere. However, they're not all pullets. They are all too young to sex accurately, but I see at least one boy.

Thanks for your help! I have been searching and looking through pictures nonstop as I have time and they seem to be about 4-5 weeks?? Breed is another thing all together and agree with you all on the mixed!
Question.... is that a good or bad thing on the mixed? I raise for eggs and also enjoy my bigger 3 girls as pets. Really wanted 2 more Buffs around same age as my girls so my RIR's would be nicer to my Buff. Was told not to add just one more but in pairs or the flock would pick on the newbie?? Is that pretty much the case?
Hope to speak with the seller of the chicks at the auction this Saturday to get some information on the chicks. If not I will just see what I get. They are sweet and settled in the dinning room tonight to stay warm! Had their first ground scratching experience in back yard today! They were too precious!
