My daughter's school hatches chickens every year and this year we are ready to bring some home. Before we do, I'd like to find out what breed they are. Does anyone have any idea what breed these little guys/gals might be? [IMG]

the ones from the light greenish blue eggs might be Easter Eggers, the very dark brown eggs look like they might be copper maran eggs.

Did I mention that these chicks are hatching at my daughters school? lol . I'm not sure which chicks are coming from which eggs. All I have to go on are the color of the chicks. Is there anyway to tell their breed by the way they look at this point? Also, is there an easy way to be sure we're bringing home hens?

Where did the eggs come from? There will be no way for you to sex them at this age unfortunately.

My daughters teacher reached out on FB and found someone nearby with guarenteed fertilized eggs so the kids could watch them incubate and hatch. She doesn't have a lot of information she could give when I asked her this afternoon. That's why I'm on this forum in search of more info. I also plan to get the contact info of the person that provided the eggs and reach out to them as well. Any help here is much appreciated.

Not an expert by any means but I think the gray ones might of come from the dark brown eggs and be some sort of Marans, and the solid blacks are either Black Sex Links or commercial blacks. It appears as though you do have some Easter eggers in there too, which account for the greenish eggs.
