    Hello!
This pretty hen was in the Easter Eggger bin at my farm store this spring but she is no Easter Egger, I think. She is quite large and lays small very dark brown eggs. She is a lovely cinnamon brown color and her most striking feature is her very long yellow legs. She went through an awkward stage when she looked like a very ugly sandpiper! I thought she might be a Welsumer but she is large and her coloring isn't exactly right. Can anyone tell me what type of hen she might be? I am including photos of her and also a picture of her egg next to a Plymouth Rock egg for comparison--hers is on the left.

    Thanks!

I agree that it is a hatchery new Hampshire. Cinnamon queens tend to have a bit more white and no black tail.

Thanks so much for the help, everyone!

Rachel BB, congratulations to you! I am three and a half years out now and still hanging in there. Enjoy every day with the chicks and your family.

thank you! I'm entering the "wait and see" period, the part I'm so not good at! But things look good, so I'm trying to be patient.
