What breed do YOU think is the smartest??

Ok, we rate chickens as good layers, on their temperament, hardiness and such, but what breed do you think is the smartest? In my limited chicken knowledge, I would say my BO and Minorca are the daftest with my SLW's and EE's being the brightest. I mean seriously, my Minorca has trouble finding her way out of the coop. She sits at the door and does that where-did-everybody-go squawk and then paces back and forth. I usually go get her and place her with the flock. My BO just runs back and forth trying to figure out where she should be - first to one chick, then the next back and forth. Ahh chickens...such fun.

Agree. The strains do seem to vary in innate ability to figure things out. I'll say this for the ISA. It is one smart bird.
While the BSL is a quiet, gentle bird, mine were not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

My RIRs seem to figure out things very quickly, they don't get as distressed over stuff either. My OEGB can figure out how to get out of the run without permission as well, and they find hiding places for eggs where you wouldn't even think about looking.Like inside the feeder for example.

Gamefowl. Any type - Whether they're American, Oriental, English, - I think there's no doubt that they're the smartest out there.

My Old English Game Bantam hens are definitely smart little chickens. Almost too smart..

i also think modern game tend to be smart. maybe i just think that because they look so... distinguished... lol
