Ok, so what breed or mix of breeds do you think this hen is? The guy I bought her from told me she was a Brahma. [IMG] I'm thinking more weirdly-colored Legbar or Legbar mix. What do ya'll think??

Actually, I'm kinda getting a swedish flower hen mix vibe from her.

a pretty young swedish flower hen or a swedish flower hen mix (swedish flower hen is the breeds name not to be mistaken as i am talking about just a hen [IMG])

here's what a swedish flower hen hen and rooster look like:

Thanks, Pele! You could be right! I hadn't thought of that breed, but she does look similar doesn't she!

Thanks, Ramirezframing! I figured she was mixed, but I liked her anyway! I love crested chickens![IMG]

I think it's much more likely she's just a barnyard mix than a very rare breed like a sweedish. I'd think anyone having sweedish would know what they have and sell them as such.

Yeah, Donrae, I really doubted I would be lucky enough to find a cheap Swedish Flower Hen in Kentucky, unfortunately. That would have been cool though, wouldn't it?[IMG] But it doesn't matter to me. I don't show my chickens or have a breeding program, so mix breeds are fine with me! [IMG]

I've been really happy with my partially barred birds, I love her barring on the brown. I have a bsl roo over various hens so am hoping to get some more pretty partially barred babies next year!
