Marans can have feathered legs or clean legs. Some hatcheries call the feather footed marans French marans, sold separate from normal marans. Sometimes it's just random whether a marans will have the feathery feet or not. I have two feed store marans, and one has feathery feet like the rooster above, and the other has clean legs except for a few feather tufts.I looked up Maran chicken. They do not have feather feet.
