What breed is this hen?

    Likely she's a mutt of some sort, provenance is sketchy.
    Wings clipped, probably molting and obviously a favorite of Mister Rooster.

    Thanks in advance for venturing any guesses...I'm just curious.

    I'd go with Black Australorp, looks solid black, red ears, white/pink feet.

    Cool, one 'pure' breed in my mixed mutt menagerie!

    I think I have a pullet that was this girls egg fertilized by a cochin (or part cochin) rooster.

    Wow I must be learning stuff here, I guessed Austrolorp too and I have only learned about chickens for six months. Good advice to everyone is keep coming and keep reading. Six months ago I would have said "blackchicken, duh" now I can actually pick out some of the more obvious breeds. Cant wait to see what I learn in six more months..thanks everyone for puttin up with me[​IMG]
