So i thought i got a hen but seems its a rooster. He has crowed a couple of times. He is about 16 weeks old. Im not sure if its a barred rock or dominique. What do you think?[IMG]

He's a Dominique cockerel. Barred Rocks have a single comb.

Thanks. I was leaning more towards dominique but i was not sure. This is the first time having a rooster. I picked these chicks at up at feed store hoping for hens. I almost certain i have another rooster. He hasnt crowed yet. Cant wait to hatch some chicks in the spring.

Purebred barred roosters make lots of barred chicks. Their barring genes and their extended black genes are very dominant. Great if you like black and white stripes. Not so great if you want a lot of different colors and patterns in your flock.

Yep. Also a boy. He's a silver base color with partridge pattern. He'll look very similar to a Dark Brahma rooster once he's fully matured.

Awesome. Thanks for your help. All of a sudden the combs were red and big while the hens didnt change at all. Just had that gut feeling.
