This chicken literally joined my flock on its own while they were free ranging yesterday. The light color on her is more of a gold or tan and her underside is solid gold or tan.

She looks like a mixed breed.

We have a Columbian Wyandotte and her feathering looks very similar.

Except that the bird in question has what appears to be a single comb, while Wyandottes have dominant rose combs. And a Columbian Wyandotte is white with black only on the neck, primary wing feathers, and the tail.
She doesn't match any breed standard that I can think of, she's likely a mixed breed.

Thanks for the input. Crazy she just shows up and hops in the coop like she owns the place. our close neighbors don't own chickens.

From the dark legs and funky looking comb, I'm thinking barnyard mix. She could have some EE heritage but she's a bit heavy bodied for the classic Easter egger.

    I agree

  8. definitely a mixed breed and an alpha(hence, i'm guessing she's now the big boss of the flock). :p

My Columbian is even bigger than her. It funny watching the smaller ones try to peck at her to put her in her place. She laid a big light brown egg with small white speckles this morning! I need to put a sign out saying now accepting chicken refugees.

I bought 2 day old chicks from a feed store and the guy there didn't know the breed. They're about 10 weeks now and it will be nice to know what breed they are. I hope the pics load ok as this is my first post.
My 2 other girls are Barred Rocks and are total drama queens.
